For this project, I was tasked with designing and producing a physical piece of work which celebrates migration. I wanted to pay homage to my Grandmothers' life and tell her story through her own words, from her perspective — from Jamaica to England in 1953.

To encompass her personality (a strong but reserved and minimal woman), I used serif typefaces for the body text and headings, incorporated her favourite colours (beige and teal), and used white space to my advantage. I also wanted to typographically illustrate aspects of her story in an interesting way to take the reader on a journey through experiences that my Grandmother encountered. All typefaces used were designed by women (other than my introduction body text).
